"Faces of Russian Resistance" Exhibition in Tokyo
From November 17 to 26, 2025, the Sumida Park Riverside Gallery in Tokyo hosted the exhibition "Faces of Russian Resistance" — an international project supporting people imprisoned in Russia for their beliefs and fight for justice. The exhibition had already been shown in dozens of cities across Europe, the USA, and Australia, and Tokyo became one of its new venues.
The exhibition also featured the art project #free120pzk, supporting the campaign to free seriously ill political prisoners — artists from around the world drew portraits of those whose lives are at risk due to harsh conditions of detention.
Events
The exhibition featured:
- Public talk (November 22) — with Elena Filina, the creator and organizer of the project, and Yulia Khitrova, a volunteer from the organizing team in Japan
- Letter-writing evening for political prisoners (November 23) — visitors could write and send letters and postcards
- Readings of political prisoners' court speeches
- Workshops — origami crane folding and spoon-playing lessons
Letters and postcards could also be left on any day during the exhibition.
